From 29 September to 2 October 2026, the doctoral researchers and members of CRC 1683 came together in Meschede for the first Autumn School.

Over four intensive days, the programme combined scientific presentations, discussions and workshops with plenty of opportunities for exchange beyond the individual research projects. External speakers provided valuable insights from research and practice and opened up new perspectives on topics relevant to the Collaborative Research Centre.

A particular focus of the Autumn School was on strengthening interaction within the SFB and giving the doctoral researchers the opportunity to get to know each other’s work in greater depth. The scientific programme was therefore complemented by joint activities and informal discussions, creating space for new ideas and connections across the different project areas.

The four days showed once again how important personal exchange is for a large interdisciplinary research network. We returned to Bochum with many new impulses, lively discussions and, above all, an even stronger sense of community.

A big thank you to all speakers, participants and everyone involved in the organisation for making the Autumn School such a successful and memorable event.
